Fresh from our exhilaration on Cotopaxi, Bellavista provided a haven of delight, interest, and fascination, and we thank you for its comforts, its beauty and the opportunity to share its wildlife. We are especially grateful to Iris, our guide for sharing with us her extensive knowledge of the cloud forest and its complex ecology. For me this is a particularly interesting environment, and one in which I enjoyed a particulalry well-explained few days.

Jens, from the Quito office, arranged all but one section of our ground transport on mainland Ecuador. Everything worked perfectly. I would like to say a special thanks to Johnny and Jorge who picked us up from the airport or the B&B on several occasions and were always so friendly. Jorge came to Papallacta to drive us to the Lodge and Johnny got up at the crack of dawn and at extremely short notice to take us to the Angel Paz Reserve to see the Antpittas and Cocks of the Rock - an expensive but extremely rewarding side-trip from the Lodge. We loved every minute of it!
Ximena was a very nice guide during our 4 days at the Lodge and we would also like to thank the rest of the staff for all their good work and the good food, too! The atmosphere was casual and relaxed and it was easy to make contact with the other guests and the staff. Our room in the 'German House' was one of the best we had throughout the trip. I loved the hammock on the balcony even if we needed a blanket when relaxing in it, watching the birds and the clouds coming rolling in! The supply of rubber boots was amazing. No-one need worry about bringing their own. The reference books available in the Dome were also very interesting.
Senora Blanca at the B&B in Quito was always there to welcome us when we turned up in Quito, made us delicious breakfasts and looked after our luggage while we were travelling. We really felt like we were coming home when we got back there!
It was good to be able to say hello to Jens in person when we got to Quito after all the e-mails we had exchanged. We would thoroughly recommend Bellavista's services to anyone travelling in Ecuador and anyone interested in birds and plants HAS to visit the Cloud Forest! |
