Bellavista is a dream come true, not just for us, but for every nature lover and bird-watcher whose imagination is stimulated by the idea of a Cloud Forest. Started by a Colombo - British couple, Gloria and Richard,  in 1991, what was initially a 55 hectare reserve has now become a  certified ecolodge with a 700 hectare private reserve, the land owned  by Gloria and Richard and a handful of like-minded conservationists. For anyone  who seeks to immerse him or her self in its mysteries, soak in its vast views, anyone who wants to discover its rare and endemic birds, orchids and other species, anyone who wants to discover true peace and wild places, anyone who loves forests, there are few places like it so easily accessible!!.
Bromeliads and orchids, hummingbirds and tanagers, toucans and antpittas, all vie for our attention, and could keep any dedicated naturalist enthused for a lifetime of observation.  Add to that the  sense of adventure hiking the forest trails, or deep  adventure hiking up streams to reach hidden waterfalls……and you have the ingredients for a travel experience about which famed photographer Tui De Roy has said ……  I will return to Bellavista again and again, because I know that here I will always find sheer magic….. .
Less than 1 hour 45 minutes from the heart of Quito city, Bellavista is a private reserve of 700 hectares, at the top of the famed Tandayapa Valley, near Mindo,  in an area that has won the highest  24 hour bird count in 2006, 2007, and 2008 in the Audubon Christmas Bird Count for the Americas.

Our Mission
To create a space for active conservation of the cloud forest, and provide educational  recreation and a  place of contemplation for visitors of all ages from all over the world.  Our total commitment to forest conservation is taking giant steps forward as one large reserve related to Ecuador´s national system of protected areas  is being created between all the private reserves in the Tandayapa Valley, a  goal to which we have strived since we started.

The Colombo - British owners and all who work here  believe in genuinely friendly, personal service and we strive to open the doors for your own special  experience both for you and for those accompanying  you. Many trails to explore within our own reserve, and the option to explore further  the wonders and variety of northwestern Ecuador.. different birds, a butterfly farm, zipline canopy experiences, waterfalls galore…………….. come preferably for various days, or even one day if time is short…..
